209D. HUGE LOT OF EXCAVATED GLASS SHARDS FROM THE SANDWICH GLASS WORKS. Many years ago, long after the Sandwich Glass firm had gone out of business and the buildings had fallen into disrepair a number of enthusiasts spent time in and around the Glass Works excavating for Sandwich glass shards. This consignor spent time over a period of a few years doing this type of excavation and the contents of this lot represents an enormous amount of hours and excavation. Consists of approximately eleven wooden crates of glass shards, much of which is colored glass, total weight of which is probably somewhere in the range of 400-600 pounds. The excavated lots, such as these have been helpful over the years in establishing and proving that certain patterns and styles of glassware were made at the Sandwich Glass firm. The occurrence or reoccurrence of certain fragments obviously from a certain piece of glass or certain fragments in color combination and/or designs clearly indicate that the pieces were made there. A very interesting lot and a representation of an extraordinary amount of work. CONDITION: Some cracks and chips!! 5-64080. CONDITION: The top of the font has been drilled in three places. There is also a hole in the side of the burner adjacent to the wick raiser. Normal wear to the marble base. 214. OVERLAY LAMP. Dark pink cut to white cut to clear font mounted on a fluted brass stem and double step marble base. No. 2 burner and 5" shade ring with fishbowl style acid cut back shade. SIZE: 20" to top of shade. CONDITION: Normal wear to marble edges. There are two or three tiny bubbles in cut portions of the font, which do not negatively detract from the lamp. However, there was a major bubble under the pink and white casing layers that was burst when the cutting was done. 258. RARE HANGING LAMP. Yellow brass Parker frame with white opalescent shading to pink petticoat shade. The shade is embossed in a diamond pattern. SIZE: The shade is approximately 15 1/2" wide and 7" tall. CONDITION: The jeweled frame is complete with a working canopy, smoke bell, evener, and complete main body. Unfortunately it is missing its original matching font shell and font. The shade is in perfect condition in all of its normally visible areas, however it has a 3/4" long flake in its top rolled edge. The lamp is completed with a frosted and cut Oregon shade. The most unusual aspect of this lamp is the existence of a key wound Seth Thomas signed clock mounted in the square stem of the lamp. The speed adjustment and winding mechanism are accessed from the back of the lamp. The side panels are embossed with a full figure of a male playing a flute. New England produced a large number of creamer and sugars in this exact style in the 1893 World"s Fair, most of the pieces were simply ornamented with "WORLD"S FAIR 1893" etc. A relatively small amount were embellished with floral decoration, such as this example. 388. ART GLASS LEMONADE SET. Pitcher and tumblers are a cream glass with an applied cranberry handle. Decoration is multi-colored and features Geisha girls. 389A. PORCELAIN DRESDEN TYPE GROUP. This exquisite highly decorative and delicate porcelain group depicts a young Georgian gentleman and maid at the foot of a long staircase. Exquisite hand painted intricate flowers decorate the surface. Also tiny exquisite pastel flowers are strewn in relief over the entire surface. The front of the stairs set in relief with a lion"s head and a tiny fountain spout. One of the banister newels at the top is actually a removable stopper that reveals a storage area within the figure. I presume that this may have been a dispenser for rosewater or perfume. A very fine piece of late 19th century porcelain. This hard paste group is unmarked but probably Dresden. SIZE: 9 1/2" tall by 14 1/2" long. CONDITION: Remarkably, it appears to be perfect. However there must be at least a couple of these delicate flowers that are chipped that I cannot see.
