209D. HUGE LOT OF EXCAVATED GLASS SHARDS FROM THE SANDWICH GLASS WORKS. Many years ago, long after the Sandwich Glass firm had gone out of business and the buildings had fallen into disrepair a number of enthusiasts spent time in and around the Glass Works excavating for Sandwich glass shards. This consignor spent time over a period of a few years doing this type of excavation and the contents of this lot represents an enormous amount of hours and excavation. Consists of approximately eleven wooden crates of glass shards, much of which is colored glass, total weight of which is probably somewhere in the range of 400-600 pounds. The excavated lots, such as these have been helpful over the years in establishing and proving that certain patterns and styles of glassware were made at the Sandwich Glass firm. The occurrence or reoccurrence of certain fragments obviously from a certain piece of glass or certain fragments in color combination and/or designs clearly indicate that the pieces were made there. A very interesting lot and a representation of an extraordinary amount of work. CONDITION: Some cracks and chips!! 5-64080. OVERLAY LAMP. Barlow 2384. White cut to cranberry font mounted on a fluted brass stem and double step marble base. No. 2 burner and ring. White cut to cranberry 7" ball shade with acid etched forest scene and trim bands. This lamp also includes a 12 prism trim band, which was removed from the lamp so that the font pattern could be completely seen. SIZE: 21 5/8" tall. CONDITION: Some wear to marble edges. Glass is excellent. 5-64396 (2,000-3,000) 213. TABLE LAMP. Signed Dietz Astral lamp brass font, mounted on a cobalt blue cut to clear stem and double step marble base. No. 2 burner. SIZE: 13 3/4" tall. CONDITION: The top of the font has been drilled in three places. There is also a hole in the side of the burner adjacent to the wick raiser. Normal wear to the marble base. There is a crack in the cut stem of at least 2" in length, extending from the top of the stem downward. 5-64408 (200-400) 214. OVERLAY LAMP. Dark pink cut to white cut to clear font mounted on a fluted brass stem and double step marble base. No. 2 burner and 5" shade ring with fishbowl style acid cut back shade. SIZE: 20" to top of shade. CONDITION: Normal wear to marble edges. There are two or three tiny bubbles in cut portions of the font, which do not negatively detract from the lamp. However, there was a major bubble under the pink and white casing layers that was burst when the cutting was done. The remains of this bubble are readily visible and do visually detract from the lamps appearance. 5-64406 (500-800) 215. TABLE LAMP. Th. II 60a. Dark emerald green font with cut pattern mounted on a brass stem and double step marbled base. No. 2 collar. SIZE: 12" tall. 217. TABLE LAMP. Floral cut crystal font
mounted on a lamp base that was originally intended for some other style
of lamp. The brass stem with a female bust embossed on both sides of it
is similar to that shown in Barlow 2245. The stem is mounted on a double
step marble base. None of the metal fittings of this lamp base are the
same as those shown in Barlow. The lamp is completed with a No. 2 collar
and ring; a floral cut Oregon shade and a pearl top chimney. SIZE: 22
3/4" to top of shade. CONDITION: There is some wear to the marble
edges. The glass appears to be excellent. 5-64412 (1,000-1,250) 218. OVERLAY LAMP. Th. II-49p & Th. II-64a. CONDITION: 1/8 " bubble burst near base of font, which does not detract from the overall appearance. There is minor roughness and a deep scratch in the green layer of glass. 5-64877 (600-900) 220. TABLE LAMP. Barlow 2394. White cut to cranberry overlay font mounted on a vaseline colored stem and double step marble base. No. 2 burner with red chimney. Prism band with 8 crystal sphere cut prisms. SIZE: 14" to top of collar. CONDITION: There is one bubble under the white casing layer that was cut through when the font was being worked. A minor amount of white overlay glass is missing adjacent to the white. There is also a 1/4" flake of white casing glass adjacent to another cutting. Except for the normal wear to the marble edges the lamp is excellent. 5-64392 (1,200-1,600) 221. OVERLAY BANQUET LAMP. Unpictured but thought by the consignor to be Sandwich. Dark pink cut to white cut to clear font and stem with cast brass fittings and three footed base. No. 2 burner and ring with leaf cut and frosted Oregon shade. SIZE: 27" tall. CONDITION: The glass is excellent. There is a fair amount of wear to the gold decoration surrounding the cuttings. 5-64393 (4,000-8,000) 222. TABLE LAMP. Embossed and cut, foreign-made cranberry font mounted on a marble stem and a double step marble base. Applied color beading at the top and on the sides of the glass font. The chandelier is finished with a set of scalloped top, acid etched, floral decorated shades. One shade is cranberry, one shade is an opalescent blue and the third shade is an opalescent pink. 258. RARE HANGING LAMP. Yellow brass Parker
frame with white opalescent shading to pink petticoat shade. The shade
is embossed in a diamond pattern. SIZE: The shade is approximately 15
1/2" wide and 7" tall. CONDITION: The jeweled frame is complete
with a working canopy, smoke bell, evener, and complete main body. Unfortunately
it is missing its original matching font shell and font. The shade is
in perfect condition in all of its normally visible areas, however it
has a 3/4" long flake in its top rolled edge. When the shade is mounted
the flake is invisible because it is under the shade ring. 5-64879 (2,500-4,000) 259. HANGING LAMP. Red brass frame with canopy, evener, crown ring, and smoke bell. Light blue 14" Hobnail shade with white opalescent Hobnails. CONDITION: The glass is excellent. 260. YELLOW BRASS HANGING LAMP. Green cased
glass 14" shade with matching green cased font shell. There is a
brass drop-in font with a Success burner. The lamp is completed with twenty-four
unusual 7" light green slender glass prisms. CONDITION: There is
some edge roughness at the top of the shade, probably from its original
manufacturer. The glass is otherwise excellent; the frame is missing its
brass smoke bell. 5-64448 (800-1,200) 261. HANGING LAMP. Red brass Parker frame with basket weave embossed metal font holder and duplex burner equipped drop in font. The frame has brass appliques on both sides of the font shell as well as vaseline jewels on the frame itself. The lamp is completed with a vaseline hobnail 14" shade. The frame appears to be complete and all original. The lamp also includes thirty no-so old amethyst prisms. CONDITION: The glass is excellent. 265. CAST IRON CHANDELIER. With a painted
bronze finish. Embossed clear glass fonts with No. 2 burners and shade
rings. Winged griffin transferred decorated shades. SIZE: Approx. 42"
tall with a wing span of approx. 25". CONDITION: The chandelier retains
much of its original finish and seems to be in good working condition.
The lamp glass is excellent. 5-64436 (1,000-1,500) 266. CAST IRON HANGING CHANDELIER. Embossed crystal fonts with No. 2 burners and chimneys. Matching white milk glass 10" shades. SIZE: 39" tall with a wing span of approx. 30". CONDITION: The cast iron frame appears to be in good condition. The retraction mechanism seems to be in operable condition. The clear glass font and chimneys appear to be good. Two of the three milk glass shades are excellent. The third shade appears to have had a portion of its top rolled edge removed. The speed adjustment and winding mechanism are accessed from the back of the lamp. The side panels are embossed with a full figure of a male playing a flute. 384. LOT OF FOUR BLOWN COLORED FINGER BOWLS. One is
sapphire, one is cobalt, one in light amethyst and one in deep amethyst.
All have ground pontils on the base. SIZE: 4 3/4" diameter by 3
1/2" high. CONDITION: Excellent with the exception of the deep
amethyst. There is a cylindrical mark in the very bottom of the inside
of the vessel, which appears to be some kind of imperfection in the
making. It is not a crack. 5-64491 (300-500) 389A. PORCELAIN DRESDEN TYPE GROUP. This exquisite highly
decorative and delicate porcelain group depicts a young Georgian gentleman
and maid at the foot of a long staircase. Exquisite hand painted intricate
flowers decorate the surface. Also tiny exquisite pastel flowers are
strewn in relief over the entire surface. The front of the stairs set
in relief with a lion"s head and a tiny fountain spout. One of
the banister newels at the top is actually a removable stopper that
reveals a storage area within the figure. I presume that this may have
been a dispenser for rosewater or perfume. A very fine piece of late
19th century porcelain. This hard paste group is unmarked but probably
Dresden. SIZE: 9 1/2" tall by 14 1/2" long. CONDITION: Remarkably,
it appears to be perfect. However there must be at least a couple of
these delicate flowers that are chipped that I cannot see. Bid on this
with the understanding that you will find at least some tiny losses.
